Viotta

She had never been this excited or nervous at the same time, it was her wedding day. She had the perfect dress, rented the perfect hall and would soon have the perfect husband. As she looked in the mirror touching up her makeup, she was reminded of her parent’s objection to the wedding. They loved Mike and wanted him live at their house with Viotta, they even offered to rent them their own house as long as they just lived together and not get married. Viotta could not understand what the problem with getting married was and was still feeling hurt by the fact that her parents said they would not be attending her ceremony. “Come on girl,” she said to her reflection, “today is going to be the best day of your life and nothing is going to ruin it.”
The wedding ceremony was just absolutely flawless. All of her friends were there, all of Mike’s friends were there. Everyone was getting along and having the best time of their lives. No expense was spared, from the decorations to the many live bands that played not to mention the food and drinks, the many, many drinks. Five years of struggling and saving up for the greatest night ever was worth it.
At the reception party, where the real fun began, Viotta wanted to play a little girls only drinking game so Mike had to search for his own fun. “Come here my husband,” she said throwing her arms around him, “me and the girls are gonna play for a little bit so why don’t you go find Sean and hang out with him for a bit, then later on I’m all yours my love.” He smiled, gave her a kiss and said, “I love you girl, don’t you get too drunk and pass out me now. You hear me girls? I’m counting on you to keep her sober-ish.” Still smiling he went off in search of his best man Sean.
He finally found him in the men’s restroom relieving himself at a urinal and figured while he was there maybe he should empty his tank as well. “Hey Sean,” Mike said while unzipping, “You having fun?” He replied, “Hell yeah, I got so many numbers these girls won’t know what hit them. Hey man, Viotta’s looking hot in that tight black dress, I’m just saying.” “She’s my wife now,” Mike said, “and that my friend is one of the many reasons I married her.” They finished their business and went to the bar for another drink. “Hey uh Mike,” Sean questioned curiously, “You know there’s only one security guard here right? Well, what do say to exploring the other floors a little.” “Viotta is having fun with her friends, everybody is having a good time, why the hell not.” They clinked their glasses together and headed for the staircase.
When they got to the second floor, they learned they weren’t the only ones that strayed from the party going on beneath them. The upstairs hall was broken up into smaller rooms for smaller gatherings but the owners didn’t count on Viotta and Mike’s friends breaking into them and having parties of their own. Mike was in awe, “Shit! I’m gonna have to pay for all this.” Not letting that bother him too much he yelled out, “ENJOY THE ROOMS, assholes,” then continued exploring with Sean drinks in hand. After exploring enough of the second floor, they decided to go to the top and see what was on the third floor.
Only a few went up to the third floor so Mike didn’t feel as worried about paying for that room as well. Unimpressed, Sean blurted out, “This floor sucks. I thought it would be at least somewhat creepy but it looks just like the first floor, only empty.” Then on the way back to the stairs, they saw a strange bluish violet light flashing from under one of the dressing room doors. “What the hell is that?” Mike asked pointing to the door. Sean tilted his head and crept over to the door saying, “That’s what I’m looking for, that’s where the party is at. WHOO!” He started pounding on the door yelling out, “Hey what are you doing in there HA!” Then the door opened slowly and the two entered the room.
The room had a dark and eerie feel to it, even the air seemed to smell and feel different. Quickly they decided to just leave and go back down stairs but as they turned around the door slammed shut. They tried and tried to get the door open but their efforts were useless. Then they heard a vibrating buzzing sound coming from the direction of the mirror, and when they looked at it, they noticed that both the sound and the light was coming from the mirror itself. Mike and Sean began to feel the fear rushing through their veins as a dark cloud started to fill the mirror and a deep cracking voice said, “VEE OU TAH, bring me VEE OU TAH. Bring her to me or all will suffer.” Suddenly the light disappeared and the door opened. Frightened and bewildered, they had no explanation for what they had just witnessed. “Sean, what the fuck was that?” Mike asked with terror in his voice. Shaking his head, still staring at the mirror Sean said, “I don’t know man but you think he meant Viotta?” A light bulb went off in their heads as they looked at each other. All their fear directed them to get to Viotta and they ran down the stairs.
When they reached the bottom they kicked open the door to that different smell from the upstairs dressing room. They felt like they were in a dream with blue and violet lights flashing everywhere. The guests were acting very strange, just smiling and staring off into nothing. Then they heard the voice again, “VEE OU TAH, come to me.” They ran past the guests knocking some of them to the ground. “Viotta!” Mike cried out, “Viotta where are you?” He heard her voice call out from a corner, “Mike! I’m over here! What’s happening?!” Then she let out a horrifying scream then went silent. Sean spotted her curled up on the ground, “MIKE! She’s over here!” He ran to Viotta and scooped her up in his arms. Terrified that she was dead he tried to bring her around, “Viotta, Viotta wake up baby, it’s me, it’s Mikey. Please wake up, please.” His eyes lit up as she started moving her head around in a daze. She looked up at him and oddly questioned, “My husband?” He laughed and replied, “Yes, yes it’s your husband. You had me so scared.” As soon as he said that her face changed instantly to something from a nightmare, her skin a more pale blue, her nails thick and curved like claws. She latched onto Mike’s neck with her sharp teeth ripping and tearing at his throat. Blood sprayed over the walls painting them a dark red. Viotta tossed his dying body to the ground and looked at Sean, “Your next Sean, or don’t you like me anymore?” She hissed at him and he ran to the front door.
“Shit!” he yelled out when the door wouldn’t open, then he ran to the stairwell with Viotta not far behind. Before he went up the stairs he turned to see just how much distance he had gained. Viotta stopped and stared at him for a moment before turning to the nearest guest, slashing him up, biting off chunks of flesh and flooding the floor with his blood and slop. Sean made it to the third floor and tried to warn the few people that were there but they were unresponsive, getting through to them was like trying to light a wet match. Sean figured that she would eventually make her way to the top so he needed to get out of the building.
He hid back in the stairwell and tried to call the police, he didn’t know what he would tell them but anything was better than getting mutilated by his dead best friend’s wife. He tried calling but he had no service, then an option popped on the screen saying that he can only make emergency calls to 9-1-1 so that is exactly what he did. “Hello? Heeelllllloooooo? Is anyone there?” he said as his call went through, but all he heard back was static, then the call dropped. In anger, Sean smashed his phone on the ground and started jumping on until he realized what he was holding on to, the emergency exit to the roof. He pushed it open and ran out of the building.
The first thing he noticed was a man in a yellow hardhat sitting on the roof next door. He started waving his arms and yelling trying to get his attention hoping he could call someone. When he reached the edge of the roof closest to the worker, he was stunned. The man had the same dazed look that the guests downstairs had and he was aimlessly waving a tool around. He looked down off the roof thinking maybe he could climb down something but there was nothing, just three stories straight down to the concrete. He panicked and ran back inside thinking maybe he could hide in the crowd of people but when he got down to the first floor, there weren’t that many left standing. The hall had been transformed into a human chum bucket. All around him were mutilated pieces of meat and broken bone from his friends, from everyone he ever knew. It disheartening for him knowing that his best friend, Mike, was somewhere in that wet, slippery mess of gore.
After a few minutes of listening to everyone on the second floor being slaughtered, he just gave up. The exits were not budging, and there were no windows to try and break through, it was only a short matter of time before Viotta found him. He fell to his knees sending the vital fluid with small lumps in it splashing around him and he just waited for her.
Just as he saw the door to the stairwell creep open he began to laugh, watching this demon Viotta stroll towards him in her black dress. When she got close enough, being the smart ass that he was, he figured he would learn something before he died. “Hey Viotta, yeah I know you’re gonna kill me but I want to know why first. You were supposed to be our friend.” She figured why not entertain him a bit and spoke, “I am not your Viotta, she died when I took her body. I am Vee Ou Tah, wife of Tah from the void. You may know us as a form of demon and we like you tire of existence, this is the entertainment that my husband gives to me.” She began to take a few steps back as an enormous figure materialized in front of him. He was in a thick patchwork hood that concealed his face and in his rotting hand with bits of bone exposed, was the limb of a tree he used as a staff. Tah’s deep voice cracked again. “Choose. For life, I claim your first daughter on night of marriage. You must name her VEE OU TAH!” Scared out of his mind, Sean agreed and chose life. “Come my beloved,” Vee Ou Tah said, “let’s leave him for our next claim. We will collect our prize from him at a later date.” The two walked toward a mirror on the wall and disappeared leaving Viotta’s dead body behind. When Sean noticed the front entrance open, without haste he ran.
A year later Sean moved to another city in another state to try and put the hell he experienced behind him. He was back to flirting with girls and being a jackass to make sure no one would ever want to marry him. One night while he was out having a drink with his friend Stacey, his Sean instincts kicked in. “Hey Stacey, who’s your friend?” She turned to look at her, “Oh now you ask about her, she’s been babbling on and on about how cute you are. It was enough to make me sick.” “Well,” Sean asked, “why don’t you bring her over here? She’s hot.” Stacey made a gagging motion and said, “Hold on, I’ll send her your way, but she’s my cousin so don’t be a dick.”
When she went to Sean, she seemed shy at first but then they hit it off and spent the entire time at the bar together. When closing time came around they exchanged numbers and agreed to start dating exclusively. Before she and Stacey went out the door Sean yelled out, “Hey wait, I never got your name.” She turned around, smiled and yelled back, “My name is Viotta.”
